Hopefully it has the hot 2.0T from the Veloster N to make it a smaller FWD Stinger, I’d buy the crap out of that!

It certainly has the looks. That’s one nice little car.

From what Ive been able to tell, the upcoming European Cee’d and the US Forte5 hatchback will be the exact same car. The new Cee’d has the same face as the new Forte.
Everyone was asking for the Pro Cee’d GT in the US even though the Forte5 has the same 201 hp 1.6t and a manual.
So, like the Euro i30 and US Elantra GT, I believe the Euro and US hatchbacks will be the same car.
Good news is that the same underpinings from the i30 N will likely appear in the Pro Cee’d GT which could very well be a 255-271 hp Forte5 GT in the US.
We may end up with the Veloster N, Forte5 GT, and a possible fastback Elantra N as a “coupe”, hatchback, and liftback Korean GTI lineup.
This is speculation though.

So like a Focus ST competitor? Not a bad idea.

Yeah, that’s what it sounds like. Plus that would provide some strong cohesion between the Forte and the Stinger

I really hope that the throw the N motor at this car! I think Hyundai will regret using the Veloster and not the Elantra simply because half the reason for this segment is practicality.

Yeah, I have no idea what their logic was on that. More automakers are bringing hot hatches to the US market than ever but Hyundai didn’t bring theirs? They also got rid of the Accent hatchback too, so weird...

I don’t know, the last time I rented a Forte, it got pretty exciting if you went over 80. Probably just crappy tires though.

Ditching the accent hatch made sense as I thought the Veloster was the same size, no reason to have two cars in the same segment. I think Hyundai will just use this as an argument as to the N model being the best. Everything about it is a tweener, the power isn’t enough for the top of the segment but it will be priced over a GTI/ST and yet smaller than all of them.

Yeah, it’s basically an accent coupe sportback but it’s not remotely as practical as the accent. I just see almost all accents around here as hatchbacks not sedans.

Veloster has the 1.6L non turbo and turbo motors. Gamma motors.

Yeah, I hope Kia is becoming more of a Pontiac type brand in the Hyundai line-up

The new Veloster will have a 2.0T in a hot N form. N is the performance division from the Hyundai group

My feelings on it are basically “por que no los dos?”. I love the Veloster and its quirky looks but I’d also like a more practical option and the new Elantra GT/i30 is a damn good looking car.

That’s what I’ve heard in regards to the motor, but those rumors have been out there a while. I’m hoping they’re on this time :)
